A project begins with clarity.
Not only in what is required, but in how it is approached.
Maison Nijen Twilhaar works with private clients, hospitality groups, and select commercial environments where spatial direction, proportion, and experience are treated as a coherent whole.
This approach is not applied in isolation. It relies on alignment, on a willingness to move beyond surface decisions, and on a shared understanding of what the work requires.
The work is considered, and so is the way it begins.
Who we work with
-
Private clients developing or refining their homes
-
Hospitality and retreat projects requiring a clear experiential framework
-
Select commercial environments where spatial clarity and user experience are central
Alignment
The work is not suited to projects focused purely on decoration or styling, fast-turnaround engagement, or situations where decision-making is fragmented.
What happens next
Share a short outline of your project, including its current stage and what you are looking to resolve.
Each enquiry is reviewed before a response is provided. Where there is alignment, the next steps are outlined. Where there is not, a recommendation may be offered.

About
The studio is led by Arjan Nijen Twilhaar, whose work focuses on shaping spatial direction from within, defining how projects are experienced before they are expressed.
His approach has been formed through work across different cultural contexts, where ways of living, building, and inhabiting space vary. This exposure informs a more considered understanding of how environments are used, and how they can adapt while maintaining clarity and coherence.
The work is grounded in structure, proportion, and continuity, but extends to how space is felt and inhabited over time. Decisions are not made in isolation, but in relation to how a home supports attention, movement, and the quieter patterns of daily life.
With over two decades of experience, the practice applies a consistent approach across private, hospitality, and commercial environments, centred on clarity, restraint, and a more deliberate way of living.
